Flight to London Stansted and from there a rental car... definitely exhausting... but luckily English roads are excellent and, what's more, free! In order, the towns we saw were Lyme Regis, Looe, Truro, Falmouth, Lizard, Penzance, St Just, St Ives, Newquay, Padstow, Tintagel, Boscastle, Launceston, Exeter, Glastonbury, Bath, Stonehenge and London. By car we toured Cornwall from south to north... without booking anything... when we found a place we liked we looked for a guest house and stopped for the night. Sleeping in English guest houses is wonderful... they have these little houses or villas and rent out one or two rooms to guests who are treated practically like family! Prices are between £45/55 with breakfast included... a proper English breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms and fried bread plus milk, coffee and yoghurt, toast and jams...
basically your liver packs its bags and waves goodbye!! Uncertain weather but great for us... in Rome 35°... here 14° and we slept under a duvet! I think this is the least rainy period... when the sun comes out you feel it, but a light drizzle is a constant... you just need to be equipped with a waterproof jacket and a small umbrella and you can get around wonderfully well in these places full of greenery and beautiful flowers of a thousand colours! Padstow is very delightful, not to mention the beautiful walk we did at Tintagel... Land's End has a wonderful one clinging to the coast, but unfortunately the weather was terrible and we couldn't do it... but it's certainly breathtaking... Before leaving I read various travel diaries... the best-known and most-visited towns are undoubtedly beautiful... but Cornwall is beautiful all over... every corner is striking...
and we were right not to book anywhere to sleep in advance, so we were free to move around!... Anyway, even in the most out-of-the-way place you'll find a lovely, welcoming guest house!!
