The story
An on-the-road trip with my parents. We set off from Rome in our own car and, stopping for just one night in Paris, reached the white cliffs of Dover that welcomed us to English soil. Unfortunately there was no digital photography back then, so only a few scans remain along with plenty of slides as mementos of the journey. Unlike most visitors, London did not stay in my heart. What did stay with me was a wonderful memory of the peace of the English countryside, the atmosphere of the countless B&Bs we visited and of their hosts, the wonder of the Isle of Wight, so rightly celebrated, the magic and mystery you breathe at Stonehenge, and the refinement and elegance of Oxford & Cambridge.
