The story

first little trip to Spain (I suspect it won't be the only one!) with the very hot Andalusia as the destination..first stop in Salou, since there was a campsite that was truly worth a visit...gigantic with mega swimming pools and packed with people...quite unlike some ramshackle campsites in Eastern Europe....but above all the beautiful Port Aventura amusement park..how lovely!! We start off with a bang, with a visit to Granada and the very famous Alhambra.

Granada is probably the most Arab of Spanish cities, as it was ruled by Muslims for many years..and the Alhambra is the proof of it; a city within a fortress, with various beautiful palaces, gardens, dominating towers and a remarkable view from above! We move into the heart of Andalusia..and the heat starts to make itself felt more and more..we're always above 40 and getting around starts to become a problem hehe! Malaga is a very young city, also due to the high rate of youth immigration of young people who come to work for the season...and in my opinion it's a quiet seaside town, but with monuments ranging from the Roman to the Muslim period and a very beautiful cathedral, very well built like all the splendid Spanish churches.

Marbella, on the other hand, is mostly a seaside resort..in fact it's overrun by Spanish and foreign tourists who can't wait to dive into the sea..I liked Mijas better, smaller but more characteristic with its narrow alleys and full of shops, and because I saw my first bullring, even going inside! We leave the coast (reluctantly...because I would always stay by the sea) and head towards Seville. The capital of Andalusia is truly very beautiful, I wouldn't know where to start. The Plaza de España is enormous, with the beautiful painted benches..it almost seems like an open-air museum! Very beautiful too are the many towers present in the city, above all the Torre del Oro, and of course the Cathedral..needless to say once again that they are beautiful everywhere. We continue our way back up, visiting Cordoba and Toledo, which has a beautiful cathedral, especially for its interior.

We almost feel like stopping off in Madrid since we're not far away...but we decline, promising to return soon to the capital! Last stop, the visit to Zaragoza, certainly not a city to go to on purpose but pleasant to visit. I really appreciated Andalusia..thanks also to the visits to Seville and Granada and to an excellent climate, perfect for tanning!
