The story

Trip at the end of the 2007/8 New Year. Ryanair flight from Bergamo to Seville in two hours. Early in the morning we are already in the city, where we stay at the lovely Hotel Corregidor (found on the internet), where we pay only 40 Euros a night with breakfast on New Year's Eve! We spend the three days wandering all over the city, visiting the best-known quarters (to the left of the Guadalquivir) of the old town, such as that of Santa Cruz, which is the ancient quarter of Seville and contains some of the city's most spectacular monuments, so much so that UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site: the splendid Cathedral, which together with the Giralda is the symbol of the city, and the two other celebrated works of the Archive of the Indies and the Alcázar or Reales Alcázares; the narrow streets are very charming and at night they become even more so.

The quarter of San Bartolomé with its church of Santa María la Blanca and the Plaza de San Francisco with its beautiful town hall, the quarters of San Vicente, San Lorenzo and the Arenal with the Torre del Oro on the Guadalquivir river, so called because of the effect created by the azulejos cladding (the characteristic monochrome tiles) that once covered it and made it shine and which today has unfortunately disappeared. On the right bank of the river, on the other hand, lies the historic suburb of Triana. But there are also other less well-known areas of the city, equally rich in history, such as the Old Port area where ships laden with gold and silver used to dock. Don't forget either to see the Plaza de Toros, the largest in Spain! A wonderful city, full of life even in winter thanks to its mild climate, and even more so in summer because of the bars that open along the river.

In the evening you can eat paella and tapas in the countless venues and even listen to flamenco shows. In short, a city not to be missed, see the photos to believe it. bye
