I decided to go to Salamanca to study Spanish. Castilla y León, for its accent and intonation, is a perfect place to learn the language. And the city itself is out of this world. I travelled around the area quite a bit, but Salamanca is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. Certainly less popular than Barcelona and Madrid, but it absolutely deserves a trip. It's not far from the capital and is a convenient starting point for excursions into central Spain, Extremadura, Portugal... What I enjoyed most, though, is the nightlife! As a university city it is absolutely packed with bars of every kind. San Justo for the alternative crowd, the Chupiteria area for meeting the Erasmus students, the Irish Rover for getting to know American guys and girls... In a single word: Salamanca ROCKS!!!
