This year, after a stressful year spent in my town working, I couldn't help but book a week by the sea in my favourite destination, namely the Balearics and, more precisely, Minorca. Having never visited it before, I was intrigued by the remarkable number of positive reviews describing this island, so I asked myself why not visit it this year. The holiday was booked rather in haste and I didn't pay much attention to the hotel but focused more on the location, since I had read that the island is fairly large and the position of the hotel is crucial to being able to visit the whole island. As accommodation, therefore, I preferred to stay in Mahón as it is close to the famous Sou Bou beach and to other northern beaches such as Cavalleria and Cala Pregonda.
Having then rented a car, I was nevertheless able to easily visit other parts of the island that I didn't expect to be so beautiful, such as Cala Macarella and Son Saura. Every morning I had fun going to the sea at different beaches so as to visit as many of them as possible. The beaches of Minorca are different from those I visited in Ibiza and Majorca because they are much wilder; there are generally no restaurants and the beaches are not equipped, so you have to bring everything with you from “home”. You have to think about water, food and the scorching sun, bringing a large parasol so as not to get sudden sunburn. I note that Minorca is not just an island where you go to the sea and sunbathe, but there are also many things to do and see. For example, you can organise a day of trekking and take long walks along the famous Camí de Cavalls.
Along this path, which skirts the whole Minorcan coast, you can even go mountain biking or horseback riding. From here you can take fantastic photos of the marinas and the surrounding landscape.
