The story

From Madrid's Atocha station you can reach Segovia in a little over an hour (return ticket 12 €). It boasts an extraordinary architectural heritage, ranging from the bulk of the Roman aqueduct to the beautiful Cathedral. The Castle (Alcazar) commands a magnificent panorama from a great rock. Down in the valley there are other small churches and the wonderful Monasterio del Parral (see photo)...
