During our 2008 holiday in Slovenia we made the obligatory trip to the capital, and it didn't disappoint us at all! It's a city you can visit in two days, but architecturally remarkable.....well worth it! And in fact we went back on 2 January 2009 for two nights at the hostel (recommended) Alibi 13

Day 120 Aug 2008

visit to the capital

last day of holidays in Slovenia, we have to visit the capital! train from Koper at about 10:00, almost 3 hours to cross the Karst and arrive at the central Station of Ljubljana. From there we took the main road that leads to the centre and after a short while we found ourselves in Presernov square where the triple bridge is located to cross the Ljubljanica and go straight towards the town hall, medieval era, and from there stroll along the pedestrian street with its various venues and shops. At a certain point one of the streets leads up to the castle from where there's a beautiful panoramic view from the tower. Worth seeing are the church of San Nicola, the castle, the fruit and vegetable market in the Tabor, the various churches and the various adorned buildings
