From Moscow it takes just 6 hours by train to reach St Petersburg. Renting an apartment keeps the cost really low. During the White Nights period the spectacle is guaranteed. Beautiful. Gorgeous. Another Russia.

Day 111 Jun 2007

The city is truly beautiful. During the week of the white nights, with the monuments open until late at night, a midnight "sunset" from the dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral is unmissable. The boat tour on the Neva is also unmissable. Cheaper and more liveable than Moscow, it is easily and comfortably reachable by train. The apartments rented online, even just for one night, are very central, cheap and of excellent quality.
