On the night of 10 August I arrive for the third time in four months in the fascinating Russian capital. Staying once again in Olga's welcoming flat, the days went by trying to understand a little better how this city works! Well, it's a city growing fast and I think it will reach its peak within the next five years. Anyway, in Russia there are still too many things that don't work well, starting with public healthcare and going on to social security. We complain about Italy, but we should consider ourselves lucky... In those days I would have liked to make a quick trip to St Petersburg too, but I was unable to get there by train. Maybe next time... Among other things worth mentioning is the wonderful Sergiev Posad. A small town 80 km from Moscow.
Sergiev Posad welcomes you with its absolute magic, especially that of the domes of the Church of the Assumption with its blue background quilted with golden stars which, if like me you're lucky enough to see the town kissed by the sun, shine brightly. The complex was founded by Saint Sergius, one of the most beloved saints in Russia, and indeed many Orthodox pilgrims come to Sergiev Posad. It's a bit like the Orthodox Vatican. But even if you're not a believer, the trip is certainly repaid by the artistic treasures kept here. The Trinity Cathedral, for example, holds a wonderful iconostasis, perhaps one of the most important in all of Russia.
GREAT FLAVIO!! BEREBEREBE!!!
