An early morning departure as usual so as not to waste a single minute of the long-awaited holidays!!Unfortunately at Malpensa airport we discover that our tickets ''covered'' only the people and not the luggage and we had to add 90 euros!(this of course didn't discourage us too much but if you travel with Easy Jet take note!)AMSTERDAM:here we are!we immediately buy the Amsterdam card and in the following days we'll discover that it really is handy and efficient. We stay at the hotel Atlanta which isn't outstanding due to a few small shortcomings(nothing serious mind you!)but which is in the very convenient RembrandtPlein.Intense cold for the whole duration of the trip with its frozen canals(FANTASTIC)and a lovely snowfall on Wednesday that gave a truly evocative look to XXX(this is the coat of arms of Amsterdam which you'll find practically everywhere, even on the policemen's jackets!!)We
spend our days among the many museums of XXX(Van Gogh Museum,Rijksmuseum,Tropenmuseum, the Anne Frank museum all a bit pricey compared with the more renowned Louvre and Prado),walks along the canals and boat trips!Obviously a trip to Amsterdam isn't complete without dropping into a CoffeeShop and the red-light district. But 2 things really impress you about XXX:the bikes(EVERYWHERE)and the restaurants that mirror this multi-ethnic city!We went to an Argentine restaurant, a Caribbean one and a Tibetan-Nepalese one that I absolutely recommend. It's calledSherpa at Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 58.And to finish, a tour of the Ajax arena...One piece of advice:do go to Amsterdam,I've been there in summer too and I believe any season can be fine.
