The famous collection of fine wines that belonged to the Field Marshal of the German Reich Hermann Göring is kept in the prestigious cellars of Cricova, about 20 kilometres from the capital Chisinau. The documents testifying to the presence of this priceless collection on Bessarabian territory date it back to the last years of the Second World War, when the Field Marshal transported it in his entourage when he moved to the Eastern Front to conduct military operations. When the war ended, all the bottles were seized by the Soviet Red Army and Stalin himself decided to continue keeping them in Moldova. The finest pieces of the “Göring collection” are undoubtedly a Jewish kosher dessert wine produced in Jerusalem in the year 1902 and 5 bottles of Mouton Rothschild dated 1936, as well as several famous wines coming from every part of Europe.
The collection can be seen every day during the guided tours of the cellars.
