I reached the island of Jersey, taking advantage of a tour of France that included Normandy, by a fast hydrofoil from St Malo. Having arrived at the island's port, we continued to the capital, St Helier. The little town has some architecture in pure British style, such as the covered market. I took advantage of the island's English style for a good breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon. The short visit, lasting a morning, ended at the port, from where I took the hydrofoil back to St Malo. The island, despite being only a few km from France to which it geographically belongs, is in fact a dependency of the British Crown. Together with other islands it forms the archipelago of the Channel Islands, also called the Norman Islands, themselves divided into the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey.
