The story
Treviso ancient city from the Bronze Age to free commune. Remains of an early Christian mosaic. Rising in pre-Roman times as a village of Paleoveneti on three hills located near a bend of the Sile river, close to the confluence with other waterways coming from the north, the ancient Tarvisium became a Roman municipality the day after the submission of Cisalpine Gaul by the Romans themselves.
