When autumn arrives, Turin becomes particularly charming. Whether on sunny or foggy days, you can enjoy appealing views. Turin is my city, but every now and then I like to play the tourist, wander around with my camera and let myself be surprised by a glimpse. In Turin, for some years now, there has been a daily service of boats that sail on the Po, Valentino and Valentina; various 'stops' have been set up along the river, starting from the terminus along the Murazzi, a few steps from Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and going as far as the Parco delle Vallere in Moncalieri. Unfortunately at present it runs in a very reduced way, since the only stop still active besides the terminus is the one near the Borgo Medievale. The others have been left abandoned, and the reasons why the service is no longer operated are rather questionable (they say it's to avoid wasting fuel…).
That said, this year, after ages of good intentions, I too managed to take the ferry and I must say that although the crossing is really short, watching the green water of the river flow by, framed by rows of yellow and red trees, was a relaxing and rewarding moment. There were mostly tourists, but also people who, like me, were enjoying their own city on a sunny day. From what I've heard, the service should be back in full next year, on the occasion of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy. Let's hope so!
