I'll keep this short: this isn't really one trip but several trips over the years to different spots around Lake Garda. If you're from northern Italy, a stop at the lake is a habit and I won't tell you anything you don't already know, but if you've never been and you're in central-southern Italy, I "strongly" suggest you plan a little trip that lets you touch all the prettiest villages on the lake. These are magical places, very varied, from the beautiful towns of Sirmione, Desenzano and Lazise in the south of the lake to the enchanting ones in the north like Riva, Limone and Malcesine.
Scenically beautiful places, where you can find beaches to rest and sunbathe, art attractions like D'Annunzio's house in Gardone, trails for hiking (Monte Baldo at Malcesine), waterfalls and mountain-bike trails (Riva-Torbole), perfect spots to practise all sorts of water sports such as sailing, surfing and kitesurfing (Torbole), and places to eat and drink very well at very affordable prices. The lake is, as everyone knows, notoriously popular with German, Dutch, Belgian and British tourists, and northern Europeans in general, who have made it a habitual holiday spot; it's time we appreciated it too for its endless beauty. I'm attaching a few photos of the various towns we visited.
