staying at the Hotel alla Salute, the only one at an affordable price at this time of year and there was a reason for that:p.... a dilapidated hotel room with the bare minimum, bathroom with a shower cubicle in which the least risk was legionella or some other bacterium, a rather nasty fungus, no air conditioning, no TV, a shared PC in the lobby, but if you should choose to stay in this hotel I would strongly advise you to bring your own PC, by the way the wi-fi works only in the lobby if you want to visit the islands I strongly recommend buying the ACTV ticket valid for 24h or 48h depending on the length of your stay. very handy, you can get on all the vaporetti you want at any time of day or night. definitely worth seeing are Burano and the island of San Giorgio.
don't miss the arrival at St Mark's by vaporetto through the Grand Canal, the sunset over the lagoon, a climb both up the St Mark's bell tower and up the one of the church on the island of San Giorgio, different and beautiful views of Venice, the St Mark's bell tower is open until 9 pm, the best is to go up towards sunset and wait for the night, the one of San Giorgio closes early instead. for the rest what can I say, in Venice it is magical to get lost, to walk the little streets, to get on a vaporetto without a precise destination, to live it
