When it's hot you feel like laughing at all the tall tales you hear around... But whoever is lucky enough to pop over to Ovada on the evening of Friday 30 July will have far more fun: they can witness an evening in which the bales, nice and big, actually roll through the streets of the historic centre, accompanied by the cheerfulness of the crowd. One of the most original and entertaining events of the summer in the Alto Monferrato will indeed return, the Palio of the Straw Bales, organised by the Pro Loco of Ovada and of the Monferrato Ovadese. It is a cheerful race in which several teams measure themselves against one another in skill, having to cross the streets of Ovada's historic centre pushing enormous bales of straw. The fastest competitors clearly win, but the fun is guaranteed for everyone, both for the participants and the spectators.

Cheering on the teams grappling with the straw bales will also be an opportunity for the people of Ovada to experience their town in a different way, while tourists can discover the most carefree side of Ovada, immersing themselves in the romantic atmosphere of the characteristic streets of the historic centre.

Ovada's summer doesn't end here, however: on Sunday 15 August the famous Antiques and Second-hand Market Fair also returns, with numerous exhibitors and stalls full of objects to discover.
