Year's end between Siena and Volterra

We were 5 families wanting to spend a few days together around New Year without blowing our money. Through other friends we found a very cheap and rather spartan solution in the Volterra area, in a holiday home called Villa Giardino. We had a whole floor at our disposal with 5 bedrooms all opening onto a large room with a fireplace, plenty of little sofas and a big central table, which we kept practically always set up for playing or eating. There were 2 bathrooms outside the bedrooms and the use of a big kitchen on the floor below, which we used a few times, alternating with meals out... Villa Giardino is an old villa set in a beautiful park, so at other times of year it is interesting from this point of view too. And with New Year's Eve as an excuse, we visited other corners of Tuscany.
