Venice is more beautiful seen in the flesh.....above all wandering its most hidden and least touristy corners....there is the true people of Venice, there is the true Venice that lives.........

Day 11 Nov 2008

arrival

As soon as we arrived at the Lido station we walked the whole of Strada Nuova and from Piazza Goldoni we turned into the little alleys, called calli, to find the Hotel. As soon as we'd settled in we went out to immediately visit Piazza San Marco which was very close, and then the immense crowd like a river obligatorily drags you towards the wonderful square! from there we tried to visit a large part of Campo San Marco, through streets full of shops and people and through small squares called campi. The most beautiful Venice is the least touristy one....the silence gives a beautiful sense of peace!

Day 22 Nov 2008

Sunday

Woken up early, breakfast at the Hotel full of young people, then straight to visit the Campanile di San Marco: the view was suggestive even though there was fog at that hour. From Piazza San Marco we walk towards Campo Sestiere Castello to visit the most beautiful part of Venice in my opinion. There you find the Arsenale and the Darsena from where the ships of the Republic of the Serenissima departed. From there you can see the cemetery, which is a separate island of San Michele, and if the weather is good you can see Murano. Worth visiting are the Basilica di San Giovanni e Paolo, Ponte di Rialto, Santa Maria dei Miracoli. From there you go towards Cannaregio to visit above all the Jewish ghetto and the house of Tiepolo and Marco Polo.
