The story

A sailing cruise to discover the Aeolian Islands: a week on a 14-metre boat with skipper to sail and navigate among the seven islands of the Sicilian archipelago! The trip was organized by CabinCharter, a travel agency specializing in nautical charter. And here's the description of the trip: Saturday: Boarding in the early afternoon and after settling on the boat and final preparations we set sail for Stromboli. Stromboli is among the most suggestive islands of the Aeolian archipelago, characterized by a plume of smoke that often adorns its summit and by the smell of sulphur. Among the most evocative spots, at sea, is the "Sciara del Fuoco" to the northwest, a lava flow that descends to the sea, creating a very particular environment, especially on night navigation. Arrival and overnight stay.

Sunday: Breakfast ashore with mulberry granita and brioche, then a refreshing swim and a spin toward Ginostra before heading to Lipari, the west coast, to see the Spiaggia Bianca, also known as the Pumice Beach, Punta Castagna, Acquacalda. Arrival at Marina Grande in Lipari, evening strolling in Marina Piccola, dinner and overnight stay.

Monday: Breakfast on board, then set sail for the southern coast of Salina, a stop for a lunch break and to enjoy the relaxation and the sea in the very famous bay of Pollara, famous for its sea stack. Pollara is one of the two hamlets of the municipality of Malfa and sits in one half of the volcanic crater on which it stands; the other half of the crater has literally sunk into the sea, leaving a sea stack visible facing the sandy beach. This area is very rich in caves that can be visited. Mooring at Salina and dinner ashore in one of its very famous typical restaurants.

Tuesday: Waking up at Salina and after breakfast departure toward Vulcano. The tour of the island begins at Porto di Levante, very well known for its fumaroles and thermal springs. Continuing the tour toward the northwest you reach the little peninsula of Vulcanello and then, just past the channel that separates Vulcano from Lipari and heading south, you reach the splendid Grotta del Cavallo, characterized by fantastic plays of light. Continuing you reach the Gelso Lighthouse and then return to Porto di Levante. Dinner and overnight at anchor at Porto di Levante or return to the very nearby Lipari.

Wednesday: Breakfast on the boat and immediately set off sailing toward nearby Panarea, to arrive in the bay of Cala Junco. This cove is one of the most important stops of the tour of the island of Panarea and is located in the southernmost part of the island. It's a beautiful natural pool considered by many to be the most beautiful spot in Panarea. The water is transparent and characterized by colours ranging from green to turquoise. This inlet is enclosed between rocky walls and is one of the most crowded places in the summer months. Stop at Baia Milazzese and then everyone ashore to explore the island by land with its nightlife, its little bars and the pareos and flat shoes typical of the island's fashion.

Thursday: Breakfast ashore in the late morning in Panarea and, weather permitting, departure for Stromboli for the tour of the gecko island. Otherwise, for the less early risers, a swim and relaxation between Lisca Bianca and Basiluzzo. Near Basiluzzo on the seabed you can admire the ruins of a Roman-era structure. You then see the islets of Lisca Bianca, Bottaro, Lisca Nera and Dattilo with its particular pyramidal shape. Near Dattilo there are the five Panarelli and the Formiche. Dinner and overnight stay in Panarea.

Friday: Breakfast on board and departure for Stromboli for a swim and lunch of Sicilian arancine on the gecko island. After lunch departure for Tropao or Vibo Valentia and sailing and return in the late evening.

Saturday: Breakfast on board, disembarkation by 10.00.
