The story

Saturday, we set off with Michela towards Rome, arriving at the car park at Tor di Valle; in the evening we go for a wander in the centre and take the chance to have dinner in a good trattoria.

Sunday. A visit to the Porta Portese market and then to St Peter's Square for Palm Sunday. For lunch we grab a frittata in the Vatican area. Back to the car park.

Monday we arrive by Metro at the Colosseum-Arch of Augustus, visit the Mamertine Prison, the Capitoline Hill, the monument to the Unknown Soldier, inside as well, the Trevi Fountain.

Tuesday a visit to Villa Torlonia (Benito Mussolini's residence); for lunch we go where Claudio works, a nice place where you eat decently spending the right amount in the Porta Pia area. In the afternoon we go to the mint's branch office to buy some coins, in the Termini area, and shop at the Chinese market.

Wednesday a visit to the Fosse Ardeatine and then back to the camper for lunch. In the afternoon we set off for Sorrento for the TURIT rally at the Villaggio campsite etc...

Thursday a day dedicated to cleaning the camper and a short visit to Sorrento.

Friday we go by coach on an excursion along the Amalfi Coast, a stop in Amalfi and a boat trip, then Ravello for lunch and back to the campsite. In the evening in Sorrento for the procession.

Saturday, we wander far and wide around Sorrento.

Sunday, waiting for the Easter lunch at the campsite restaurant included in the programme, the morning is spent picking lemons from the plants here at the campsite. Late in the afternoon another tour of Sorrento, this time there and back on foot because the buses are stopped for Easter.

Monday an excursion to Capri with a boat reserved for participants only; it's not very comfortable but we manage to see some very beautiful and characteristic places on the island that we otherwise couldn't have seen. We go to visit the Blue Grotto, then close by the Green one, after which we land at Marina Piccola. Meeting for the return at 4 pm. We do a tour of Capri and Anacapri and then go down towards Marina Piccola to take the boat back. We pass under one of the faraglioni; there's a custom of kissing your beloved, so we say goodbye to the statue of the "Scugnizzo" and leave Capri for good. After the day's hard slog, the climb back up to the campsite awaits us, which is no bad thing for a flat stomach. Once at the campsite there's nothing left to do but say goodbye, because the rally is over and tomorrow we go home.
