We arrived in Genoa from Rome on an Air One flight. Excellent flight, splendid landing at one of the airports that makes you most nervous when you arrive, because of the runways parallel to the sea. Unfortunately the weather isn't good: big clouds, intermittent rain. But we're determined to enjoy the day: our destination is the Genoa Aquarium. We take a taxi and for 16 euros we reach the Aquarium. The alternative to the taxi is the bus, but it only runs once an hour and ours had gone a few minutes earlier. We arrive at the port and head straight for the ticket office. Entry to the Aquarium alone costs 17€ per person, but there are combined tickets that also let you see other attractions (the biosphere, the maritime museum, etc.). Having only one day, we take just the Aquarium ticket and, getting past a throng of insistent street vendors (really very insistent), we go into the Aquarium.
No flash inside the Aquarium; otherwise you can photograph all the tanks. We go straight to a cinema where we watch a 3D film about the marine world and then begin our visit. No point describing the beauty of these fish. You'll discover it for yourselves. The complete tour lasts several hours and also depends on how long you linger in front of each tank. We went in at around 10 and came out at 14.30. Rushing, you can save about an hour, but it also depends on how many people are in front of the tanks, because in some cases you have to wait several minutes before you can see the "guests". On the way out the weather has got worse and it's pouring with rain. We decide to have a good plate of pasta with pesto in one of the little restaurants at the port.
Excellent food and acceptable prices (unfortunately I can't remember the name, but it's right opposite the newsstand in Piazza Caricamento). (followed by the San Lorenzo account)
