The story

Today the archaeological visit is dedicated to Monte Adranone, very close to the town of Sambuca di Sicilia (Ag) – we begin the tour of the ancient Greek-Punic centre (7th – 6th century BC) – the south necropolis – the monumental Tomb of the Queen – the farms – the sanctuary of the chthonic deities – the south gate – the Punic sanctuary – the rectangular building – the warehouses – the acropolis – the Punic temple on the acropolis – the enormous defensive wall 5 km long etc... Lunch based on local specialities at the restaurant La Panoramica, near the excavations, tel. 0925.943240 ask for the owner Mr. Erino Safina.

The afternoon is devoted to visiting the town of Sambuca di Sicilia; we see the splendid theatre, the archaeological museum, the ancient Saracen quarter, churches and old palaces, and taste the particular pastry: the minne di vergine, and a visit not to be missed is to the picture gallery of the master Gianbecchina, truly splendid works full of meaning.
