A weekend in Ferrara for the Balloons Festival, held every September. We stayed at the B&B 'Al Fluviale', only 25 euro a night, and it had absolutely nothing to envy in more expensive B&Bs; the location wasn't bad either, five minutes on foot from the centre. First day, a wander around the Parco Urbano where the event takes place; in the afternoon we watch the Frecce Tricolori display, then a visit and a stroll around the city. Near the Cathedral, the pizzeria 'I Sofisti' is an excellent place to have dinner. The next day, at seven in the morning (!) a hot-air balloon flight that we had booked in advance for 150 euro per person (!!) Luckily the weather is perfect, the flight lasts about an hour, the wind pushes the balloon above the city and then out into the countryside, truly a lovely experience. In the afternoon another wander around the city centre, then we set off.
