The last time we were in Sicily was in 2004, and we promised ourselves we would go back as soon as possible, because we had been amazed by this fantastic land.
So after 4 years, here we are again.
4 days around Sicily, in April, goals?... Etna!!! Taormina!!! Segesta!!! Erice!!! And Palermo!!!
If you look at the map, these places are a bit far from each other; of course if you have more days it's better, but it was wonderful even like this.
Etna is unique, there's nothing similar in Europe, and if you go don't stop at 2,000 metres (the point you reach by car), but climb even higher. Take the cable car, even though it costs quite a bit, then a coach will take you up to 3,000 metres where expert guides will give you valuable and interesting information.
I advise everyone to wrap up well, it's very cold and even though Valentina and I knew it, we suffered a lot from the temperature.
Back at the hotel in Catania for a quick shower, we then reached Taormina the same day. A wander through the alleys and a visit to the Greek Theatre, which in our opinion is one of the most beautiful of all, also given its panoramic position.
The next day, destination Erice, but here there was a bit of disappointment; yes, because the fog ruined our plans. Having abandoned Erice, it was the turn of the archaeological site of Segesta, which is very well preserved and has nothing to envy of the archaeological sites of Greece.
Finally Palermo, certainly very beautiful; we visited it on board a tourist coach, it was a quick but interesting visit. We also saw the famous Mondello beach, very beautiful and full of people, and to think it was April...
For us Sicily is absolutely the most beautiful of all the Italian regions, and we've seen places... nonetheless we'll come back here, still many places to visit and many emotions this island will still be able to give us.
