A few days ago we decided to go and visit Padua... and obviously the itinerary can't leave out the Scrovegni Chapel and the Basilica of Saint Anthony. After two and a half hours by car we park in a car park near Padua station. (7 hours 10.50 euros) Once parked, we head for the IAT tourist office and pick up a map of the city. We book the tickets online for the visit to the Scrovegni Chapel; I assure you you won't be disappointed, a truly wonderful spectacle of colours and sacred images. As well as the chapel, with the same ticket you can also visit the archaeological museum, the multimedia room and two other museums. The ticket costs 12 euros. We carry on visiting the city and reach the centre, Caffe Pedrocchi, a historic cafe. It's closed but you can visit the tea rooms; we visit the Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Frutti, the Clock, and reach the Piazza del Castello.
You notice various architectural styles... and the influence of Venice reigns supreme. Slowly we reach the Botanical Garden (a UNESCO site) and visit the countless very interesting plants. A few more steps and we see the Basilica of Saint Anthony, imposing and fascinating; we go in and admire it in all its splendour! Last key stop: Prato della Valle... spectacular with all its statues and so much peace... or almost. A cultural day, lovely and quite tiring, not for me but for my travel companions, my mum and Rosy.
Bye and see you on the next trip!
