EST! EST! EST! A Trip in the Viterbo Area

Montefiascone is the home of the wine EST EST EST. It is about an hour's drive from Rome, near Viterbo. The village is perched on a hill from which you can enjoy a superb view over Lake Bolsena. We recommend staying at the Hotel Urbano V (Besides being very central, it has magnificent rooms. The price of a double room, breakfast included, is 70€, but there are also some lovely offers for romantic weekends at around 150€ per person. Unfortunately, being central, parking can be a problem and in any case it is paid. For eating we recommend the restaurant "La Cavalla" at via della Bandita 25 (Excellent local cuisine at affordable prices (around 30€ per head, wine included). For football fans, it also shows the matches on SKY.

Viterbo too (about 30 km to the south) is worth a visit if only for the splendid square and its historic centre, but above all for the church of Santa Rosa, which houses the relic of the city's patron saint. If you happen to be in Viterbo on a Sunday you'll notice that it's not exactly easy to find somewhere to eat. Wander through the alleys and you'll discover some quite good local trattorias. What can I say? If you live in Lazio or in lower Tuscany, a trip to Montefiascone is a must.
