Setting off from Tagliacozzo, we reached Celano by car in a little under an hour. After filling our backpacks with water and sandwiches we set off on the trail, confident of achieving a small feat again today: climbing up the course of the river, which at this time of year is dry, and reaching the famous little waterfall just below the village of Ovindoli, before being able to turn back.
Well, Vale and I had looked up the route we were supposed to take on the internet, but we never imagined we'd find one so interesting, full of unusual scenery that made it hard to believe we were in Italy and, above all, so close to Rome.
The "walk" lasted 5 hours in total, including the stops to take photos and eat; along the way we even came across a dead roe deer, which had fallen from the high walls towering over the river shortly before we passed.
We recommend this pleasant excursion in the heart of Abruzzo to everyone; we'll be back as soon as we can.
Best wishes from the travellers Claudio and Valentina..
