April 2006: For this 25 April long weekend we decided to head to Veneto at the very last minute. We chose Padua because Elena lives there, a girl we met in January on the train while we were coming back from the Slavic countries. So on the morning of the 23rd, Bello and I set off for this lovely city, which has a wonderful historic centre and the largest square in Europe: Prato della Valle (about 90,000 sq m), which dates back to 1775 and is surrounded, on its central island, by statues of illustrious figures linked to Padua. After a whole afternoon in the company of Elena and her sister and a night spent in the square during the festivities, on the morning of the 24th we headed to Jesolo, where we spent the whole day between the sea, aperitifs and evening venues. On the 25th, since we were so close, a quick trip to stunning, charming Venice couldn't be missed..
