We stayed in Sorrento, the hotel in an elevated position among lemon groves was very atmospheric, there's a shuttle to the town centre at all the hotels in the area. The excursions are the most classic ones: to Positano by car, though once you arrive parking is difficult, or easy but very expensive at the attended garages; to Capri taking advantage of the many ferries available; to Pompeii it's better to take the Circumvesuviana, which brings you quickly to the entrance of the excavations. Sorrento is worth exploring on foot and making a stop at the marina vecchia where there are little fish restaurants and a fishing village immortalised by De Sica's famous film Pane amore e fantasia with a glamorous Sofia Loren as a fishmonger. One of the most wonderful places in Italy, it stays in your heart
