The story

GAUGUIN - VAN GOGH. The adventure of the new colour

Two myths of art history, two parallel human stories shared in the two months spent together in Arles at the end of 1888, two figures who revolutionised the way colour is understood.

The very rich display is divided into nine different sections that retrace, in chronological order, the vitality of two artistic/human stories that, from the years of apprenticeship spent respectively in Paris and in Holland, lead up to the celebrated works of Tahiti for the first and of Provence and Auvers for the second.

The Brescia exhibition, among the largest ever staged, celebrates them with 150 works in total that come from museums and collections all over the world. Fundamental was the collaboration of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo.
