Among the sports I love most I must absolutely put skiing on the podium. My passion for this winter activity was passed on to me by my parents, who, from the age of six, organised the white week in late winter.....this habit continued until I was 14, then...time....commitments etc. etc....no longer allowed us to continue. In winter, what is more beautiful than finding yourself high in the mountains, surrounded by endless expanses of white snow, admiring the Dolomite panoramas from the top of the slopes, sheltering in the warmth of the huts and slipping under the covers towards evening!! On the other hand, an activity like skiing is even more exciting if experienced with someone who wants to share the experience with you.
Luckily, over the years I have met friends and colleagues who loved this same interest of mine, but above all, on that now distant day on the slopes of Sestola (Modena Apennines) I met a girl who at that time......I could not have imagined would become my girlfriend a few years later!!! Back to the present day, finally in February 2005 I convince Veronica to follow me on the slopes of Canazei and Val di Fassa; I am certainly no Tomba but I manage quite well, she is no Compagnoni but.........she has courage to spare and for that I envy her.
I knew from the start it would be a beautiful experience and that we would live lovely moments on the slopes, but I also knew that.........we would argue a bit!! Indeed, just as when I was a boy who blindly obeyed the instructors but with my father dispensing advice.......I was always ready to answer back and grumble.......the same thing happened between me and Veronica........ We certainly would not have managed to do the “Four Steps” but in the end what remains are the laughter, the falls in the snow, the clean air, the moments of relaxation on the sun loungers high in the mountains, the panoramas looking at the horizon.....when the blue sky and the sun accompany you for three whole days, what more can one ask for.
