On foot or by bike, every road leads to the good food of the Ovada hills. Once again this year the food and wine event will be enriched by a cycling event designed for children, who on Sunday morning can take part in fun bike games that put their skills to the test.
After the huge success of previous editions, the lively "gathering of taste" returns to Piazza Martiri della Benedicta, with the Pro Loco associations and clubs of the Ovada area, during which you can get a first taste of the most interesting summer fairs and festivals and discover the many culinary attractions that the Alto Monferrato area has to offer.
On Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 June 2019 the fifteenth edition of the Paesi e Sapori food and wine festival will take place. During the event each of the participating Pro Loco associations and clubs will offer a typical dish, thereby promoting, through the universal language of taste, the area and the festivals that will be held in the region during the summer.
The food stalls will open on Saturday 1 June 2019 from 6 p.m., starting the tasting of the many specialities accompanied by local wines, in particular Dolcetto D.O.C. and OVADA D.O.C.G. In the evening the audience will be entertained by A.S.D. Mambo Rico.
Sunday morning The Paesi e Sapori audience can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of cycling skill races thanks to the "Pedalando in bicicletta" event, which will offer bike games for children.
On Sunday the food stalls will reopen at 12 noon for lunch and at 6 p.m. for dinner. The evening entertainment, from 7 p.m., will be provided by the A.S.D. Mambo Rico group.

Ovada and the neighbouring towns lie in a singular area, on the border between Liguria and Piedmont. This geographic and historical feature of the area is also reflected in its culinary traditions, which are a true union of these two wonderful lands. Monferrato specialities are thus paired with the delicious dishes of Ligurian peasant cooking, such as farinata. Among the area's starters, the most important are vegetables in bagna caoda, hand-chopped raw meat, anchovies in green sauce, vitello tonnato, fresh mushroom salads and the ever-present cured meats. Next, agnolotti reign among the first courses, made with thin pastry and a filling based on meat and, of course, borage, to be eaten with sauce or "white" in a steaming cup of Dolcetto d'Ovada wine.
Other typical dishes of the Ovada area are vegetable ravioli, tajarin with mushrooms, the peirbureira of Rocca Grimalda, polenta seasoned in various ways, once a single dish and today sought after again. At Easter time the andarini are unmissable, tiny flour gnocchi to be eaten in broth. In season, mushrooms prepared and cooked in various ways dominate the main courses. To these are added mixed boiled meats, game, roasts, green pies with wild herbs, stuffed cime, boiled capon with green sauce, and mixed fried food in the Piedmontese style.
