Cala Goloritzé is a beach located in the municipality of Baunei, in the southern part of the Gulf of Orosei, in Ogliastra, in Sardinia.
Cala Goloritzé. The beach, one of the most striking in Sardinia, was created by a landslide in 1962; it is famous for its high cliff of 143 metres above the bay. Another feature of the beach is the natural arch that opens on the right side of the bay. The beach is made up of small white pebbles and sand.
Cala Goloritzé can be reached by boat, or by a trail that leads from the gulf to the bay, with an elevation gain of 470 metres and about an hour and a half of walking. Currently the coast near the beach (200 m from the shore) is completely closed to speedboat traffic to protect the beach from pollution and the onslaught of tourists. To reach the beach by sea, the most convenient and least demanding transport services available are boats for hire from the nearby ports of Arbatax and Santa Maria Navarrese (a hamlet of Baunei).
Cala Goloritzè was declared a "Natural Monument" of the Region of Sardinia in 1993, and subsequently named an "Italian National Monument" in 1995.
