The story

We spent 3 days in the Marche, sleeping at the Antica Maison in Loreto, a beautifully kept Bed and Breakfast in the very small town centre. Loreto was an excellent base to stay in, because all around it, almost in a fan, there are very many other towns with museums and monuments that are truly original and different to visit and, let's say, to “breathe in”.

Not to mention that in the right season you can also do plenty of walks in the Conero Reserve! Starting with the basilica of the Madonna della Santa Casa itself, which I did not know was such a treasure chest of masterpieces by great architects and sculptors, I want to mention the fantastic Romanesque style of Ancona and the Conero, the small but exciting Accordion Museum in Castelfidardo, the underground city built beneath the little town of Camerano and finally Recanati, whose mere name is able to evoke ancient memories very dear to all of us.

In the Marche too, as everywhere in Italy, you eat well and… drink well too! The only note that somewhat disappointed me is that, compared with a few years ago, when I used to pass through the area without stopping, they seem to have built an enormous amount, really too much, so that those images of wide and serene countryside that I kept in my memory and, above all, in the Leopardian one, a HERITAGE of us all… alas, I have really rarely found them again!
