RECCO AND CAMOGLI
It often happens to us, during the good season, to take our Harley and spend some Weekends away from home. So we left by motorcycle from the province of Varese, one Saturday morning, destination Liguria. We wanted to stay in Camogli, but there, the few available hotels had prohibitive prices. So we settled for accommodation in Recco, which is only 2 km from Camogli. Unfortunately, however, the decision turned out to be unhappy, since Recco is an ugly little town without any attraction (except the famous focaccia of which I will speak later); moreover, the hotel, a promising 4-star, (Hotel La Villa Manuelina - Recco: € 100 breakfast included. Booking through Booking.com), turned out to be accommodation with some flaws. In any case, at 12.30 we are at the Hotel, an ancient Ligurian villa, artfully modernized.
We are assigned the room, I believe one of the best, of the hotel as it has a nice little balcony (the others had only the window). Given the time, we want to have lunch and, given the desolate position of the hotel, on the outskirts, with nothing nearby (only the bocce court), we go to the hotel restaurant where they literally rob us as we eat two tiny portions of the famous focaccia di Recco and spend 38 euros for 2. After the motorcycle trip, we decide to relax a bit in the nice but freezing hotel pool, where we discover that the attached hot tub does not work. The wi-fi doesn't work either, the sink drain doesn't work either, and neither does the shower drain. Not bad for a 4-star hotel! In short, don't go there. Around 6 pm we decide to go to Camogli for a romantic dinner in front of the sea. Camogli at sunset is fantastic.
We find a restaurant with outdoor tables and an amazing view, Ristorante La Piazzetta: medium/high prices, scanty portions but the panorama compensates us for everything and we are nevertheless satisfied. We then return to the hotel for a well-deserved rest.
