The story
Founded in 1934, the Irpino Museum in Avellino documents prehistoric, Samnite and Roman Irpinia from the 4th millennium BC to the 6th century AD. Important finds come from the Copper Age necropolis of Madonna delle Grazie in Taurasi, including the reconstruction of the tomb of a tribal chief buried with his dog and a rich grave goods; and the votive deposit from the sanctuary of Juno Mephitis in the Ansanto valley near Rocca S. Felice.
