The story
Between the railway station of Avellino and the Cemetery of Atripalda, on the plateau of the Civita, stood the ancient Abellinum, where the excavations have brought to light important remains, among them various stretches of the city wall in opus reticulatum, with semicircular towers, and a stretch of the older walls in opus quadratum from the 3rd century BC.
