We had been dreaming of Ireland for a long time; our itinerary started from Dublin and then covered the whole south-west; it was a unique and unforgettable experience; the emotions you feel in Ireland are hard to express; the one certain thing is that you will carry them inside you forever. I recommend this period to everyone; in May it wasn't very cold and we had only a few days of rain, although, believe me, Ireland is beautiful even when it rains... we set off booking only the flight and the first night in Dublin, then for the rest of the nights we always slept in splendid B&Bs and at a maximum price of €30.00. The only thing that in my opinion is a bit expensive in Ireland is the food; always try to have dinner in the pubs, so you can also enjoy an excellent pint of Guinness and some good music.
The places absolutely not to be missed are: Glendalough, a spectacular setting that inspires spirituality; the Ring of Kerry and Valentia Island, where you feel outside of time, as also on Achill Island; the famous Cliffs of Moher are very beautiful, but even more so the ancient fort of Dun Aengus on Inishmore; really not to be missed is the bike trip on this island; in my view this alone is worth a trip to Ireland. Connemara is beautiful too and as a stop I recommend Roundstone, a small idyllic fishing village. If you really want to enjoy a trip to Ireland my advice is to skip the big cities and plunge straight into this extraordinary nature.
