The trip took place on several occasions over recent times, always based in Budapest, where I stay at a friend's place; of course Budapest needs no introduction.... then I should talk about Szekesfehervar (ancient Hungarian capital), Visegrad (a marvellous village on the bend of the Danube), Szentendre (a town also overlooking the Danube a few km from Budapest), Lake Balaton (a marvellous lake, I believe the largest in Europe), Balatonfured, Tihany (beautifully set on Lake Balaton), Lake Velence, and then again Esztergom (separated from Slovakia by a long bridge over the Danube), Vac (also on the Danube), Eger (a medieval village located in the north, the last outpost to surrender to the Turkish invasion). I could go on, but I think this is the essence of my travels.
