We leave from Malpensa on the 7:10 flight, sleepy as can be... But once on the plane we start taking photos, especially when from up there we begin to glimpse the shapes of the islands of the Aegean Sea...

A journey of discovery to an evocative island steeped in Mediterranean nature... Samos, rich in art, culture, history and wonderful landscapes of every colour... Elena and Francesca, aboard a little Atos, setting out to discover a marvellous world...

We leave from Malpensa on the 7:10 flight, sleepy as can be... But once on the plane we start taking photos, especially when from up there we begin to glimpse the shapes of the islands of the Aegean Sea...

We're staying in Pyyhagorio in a guesthouse... to be honest, getting there took quite a bit of effort, because at first the agency had recommended a similar apartment, in a place, however, that was totally out of the way... after various complaints we found accommodation suited to a normal tourist life for two girls. But...don't think you can go there without renting a car! Without one you'll never truly get to know Samos!! We met "static" tourists... village, spot for the umbrella, same sea and that's it! No... follow our trip if you want to truly get to know Samos... because we... aboard the little Atos we rented, in 15 days, we went all around the island....

Who was born in Pythagorio? None other than Pythagoras of course... mathematician and philosopher, master of the harmony of numbers, of music and of the theory of the atom, later passed on to Democritus... Well come on, who doesn't remember the "Pythagorean theorem" drilled into us at school? Well, we were there in his hometown... And the impact, I assure you, is no small thing! There's a statue of him right on the harbor. This harbor was built in the 6th century BC during the tyranny of Polycrates and is still organized and functioning today. Believe me, the one in Samos is also very beautiful, but the one in Pythagorio has a different effect; it's much more fascinating!

So begins, from the third day until the end of our trip, an endless tour among mountain villages, coastlines, for a contact with simple nature, but one that leaves a mark... The inhabitants are very hospitable and friendly, always ready to give directions and suggest the best coastlines. I assure you I've only included a few of the marvelous photos, because Samos is an island that deserves much more to be told about... As for coastlines, I recommend the northwest area: Platanakia, Tsamadou and Lemonakia... The wind blows hard and watch out for the currents, but if you practice nudism Tsamadou is definitely the coastline for you... Silence, peace, total contact with nature! If you prefer emerald-colored water then I recommend Bay Kervelis, suitable for families who want a bit of isolation and quiet, with a calmer sea... Psilli Amos is very beautiful, with lots of sandy beach...
Yes, because there are rocks almost everywhere, while on this coastline you'll definitely find a beautiful sea and above all sand... Suitable for young people and families. Potami and Votsalkia have a stunning sea and are perfect for diving. The water is crystal clear, a bit cold but truly transparent, surrounded by unspoiled nature. For the historical part, definitely Ireo, Pythagorio and Samos in its ancient part Vathi. You'll find lots of Orthodox churches, definitely worth visiting... In short, I'd say that in Samos what's favored is contact with wild Mediterranean nature and a simple but profound philosophy. The atmosphere is wonderful and pleasant to experience... Happy travels to all of you!!! Elena and Francesca
