last summer I went to Kos for two weeks with my girlfriend. It was an absolutely fabulous holiday and now I'll tell you why. first of all you spend relatively little: a complete package (flight + transfers to and from the hotel + half board) of about 800 euros (of course if the euro had been around I'd have spent much less...); the journey is short because it takes less than three hours of flying and then, as soon as we arrived, we were only 8km from the hotel; an unbelievable heat, though softened by the pleasant wind that always blows in Greece (so zero clouds and never a day of rain or overcast); a landscape less barren than the rest of Greece, in fact there were patches of green here and there; the hotel where we stayed was very unusual, perched on a hill and made up of about 500 rooms arranged in two-storey bungalows built in the typical Greek style in white, yellow and blue...
in short, it felt like being in a village; the food was more than good (but only in the hotel where we stayed, because those who had gone to other hotels weren't so lucky); the simple beach of gravel and fine sand (but not annoying!) with a stunning sea of an intense blue and lots of tiny little fish. ah I forgot, the little town where we went is Kardamena, which is a bit overrun by the English but you can avoid them; moreover on the beach there were always very few people because the English, since they partied until the morning, then slept during the day or stayed by the pool (which, don't get me wrong, was nice, but if I go to Greece I go for the beautiful sea...). in short, I'd say it was an excellent choice, and if you want I'll even tell you the name of the hotel, which is called LAGAS AEGEAN VILLAGE in Kardamena..
needless to say we also toured the island, finding excellent beaches and characteristic little villages
