The story

I reached Athens by plane, departing from Bologna with a technical stopover at Brindisi, and stayed in a luxurious hotel on the road to Piraeus. The trip, lasting a week, let me discover the capital of Greece and not only. In the city I saw the changing of the guard in Syntagma Square in front of the Parliament, the Stadium of the first Olympics of the modern era, the National Archaeological Museum with famous Hellenistic finds, and the Acropolis, the true navel of Hellenistic culture that sums up all its facets. How can you not be enchanted before the Temple, the portico of the Caryatids, the Propylaea, the amphitheatres and the spectacular panorama enjoyed there. I also visited the modern area and the market area. One afternoon I took public transport to the port city of Piraeus, Athens's appendage on the sea.

A whole day I joined an organised excursion that let me visit ancient Corinth with its excavations, have lunch at Nafplio, continue to the remains of Mycenae (the Lion Gate, the Cyclopean walls, etc.) and the great amphitheatre of Epidaurus. Return to Athens passing over the bridge over the Corinth Canal. The return from Athens was by plane, with a direct flight to Bologna. Absolutely not to be missed: Mycenae-excavations; Athens-Syntagma Square with the Parliament, the Stadium of the first Olympics of the modern era, the National Archaeological Museum, the Acropolis with Temple, portico of the Caryatids, Propylaea and amphitheatres; Epidaurus-Amphitheatre.
