The story

Finally a holiday! We flew with a new airline (blue-express), with which we were very happy. Evening departure from Rome. We stayed at the Aegean Village (Kardamena), a 4-star hotel, choosing half board. The complex is excellent, the food good, the sea close by and clear. Unfortunately there are many stones in the water, but with the right shoes (6-9 euro at the supermarket) there is no problem. We did 3 excursions: the first to Turkey (see), the second to the three bays (Kefalos in particular is really worth it), and finally Kos Town. It is worth it (financially) to arrange things with a tour operator. There are many in town. The good thing is that they only take care of the transport, then you are free to do whatever you want. In Kos town you find the famous Plane Tree of Hippocrates, under which (according to legend) Hippocrates himself taught.

Here also stands the first hospital in history and the only Catholic church on the island. I highly recommend, as a restaurant in Kardamena, the "Posidonia" (photo), which is right as you enter the town; fresh fish and friendliness. The spaghetti alla pescatora (photo) are delicious, as is the grilled squid.
