We took advantage of the mid-August holidays to take a trip on board a Yamaha R1 to Fussen to visit the famous Neuschwanstein Castle, the one made famous by Disney!!
We set off early in the morning, overalls, gloves, helmet.. charged Bluetooth headset... backpack and a great desire to spend two days together. We passed through Passo Resia, a fantastic village destroyed by the Duce to build a dam there, where the tower was left intact to remember all the people who lost their homes. Arriving in Fussen we had the list of hotels......panic...they were all fully booked, so we headed to the tourist information office and on the second try we finally grabbed the last free room. It really was all full! The hotel was in the town centre, so after a nice refreshing shower we headed to the characteristic centre to eat.
Restaurants close early, and indeed around 22:00 the only people around were willing Italians wanting a beer.....but everything was closed; to think that in Italy it doesn't work that way, the more touristy the place the more people there are late, oh well! In the morning we visited the castle straight away to avoid long queues. There, in front, there's also Hohenschwangau Castle and some very pretty little lakes. We delighted in the local cuisine, goulash and potatoes! Nice trip and I recommend it to everyone, even by car.
