So the trip I'm going to tell you about is the hen party organised for our friend Lauretta, who's getting married in October... the only days available for everyone were these, from 17 to 20 July. We studied the destination for a long time... We chose southern Bavaria for various reasons: the proximity, the beauty and then the school memories that tie us to this area... We booked the hotels in March, but let's go in order. Laura didn't know the destination of the trip... we did everything to mislead her and I must say we were very good, in fact she thought she was going to Spain (we told her the means of transport would be the plane)... instead... nothing of the sort.
Day 117 Jul 2008
First day
July 17 Departure at 20.00 we get on the highway and as soon as we arrived at Verona airport she was all agitated… instead… instead of turning right ahead… Lauretta says.. "But Fraaancyyy" and we all burst out laughing… so she understood that we weren't going to Spain. We cross the Italian border and arrive in Austria… it was evening by then and unfortunately the wonderful landscapes that surrounded us couldn't be seen… Then we also cross the Austrian border and arrive in Germany… Our first stop is the city of Fussen, we arrived at two in the morning but there were no problems.. luckily.

Day 218 Jul 2008
Second day
July 18. Europarkhotel international ( a very nice hotel, large and clean. Spacious and well-furnished rooms, we paid for one night with breakfast 116 euros for the double and 131 euros for the triple. Exhausted from the trip we went to sleep and in the morning we woke up at nine! First stop the Neusshwanstein castle booked from home (advice I give you because there are always endless lines) the castle costs 9 euros each. To go up to see it you can choose different means of transport… on foot, but it takes 40 minutes, by bus or by horse-drawn carriage… we chose the latter for the sum of 5 euros each. Arrived at the castle we waited our turn for the visit, on the ticket there is a number and when this appears on the display it's your turn. The visit of the castle lasts about 30 minutes and at the entrance they give you the mini portable guides in Italian.
Unfortunately not everything is visitable but it is very interesting. We could also have seen the other castle of Hohenschwangau but we opted for another castle (this one we had already seen on a school trip) that of Linderhof a short distance away. This one too is very beautiful and lavish, it costs 35 euros for five people. There's not only the residence to visit but also the whole park that surrounds it, unfortunately it was raining and we couldn't see all of it… Once we finished visiting we left for the city of Pocking on lake Starnberger. Hotel villa Kefer ( nice and kind staff, at the cost of 96 euros for the double and 114 for the triple, buffet breakfast included (which can also be had outdoors).

Day 319 Jul 2008
Third day
July 19
Wake-up at nine, breakfast and off we go to visit lake Starnberger, luckily we find parking right in front of the lakeside, we take a little tour of the city (very very nice) and then we walk to the pier from where the boats leave. Tickets are bought on board and cost 8 euros each. The tour lasts about an hour and makes 3 stops. You see other residences of Ludwig and a breathtaking landscape! Unfortunately the captain explains in German and we didn't understand a th… but it doesn't matter! After getting off the boat we take a tour of the lakeside and relax a little, then we get back in the car to head toward Munich!! The landscapes are very beautiful, green and unspoiled!! Unbelievable. Arrived in Munich we discover that it's all closed for the City's birthday celebration..
it's turning 850 years old… and it's a big party!!! Lots of people, music, food, folklore… We find parking near the hotel… for us a historic hotel Modern Hotel, the same hotel as the class trip in 1999… If you have to go to Munich we advise against it because it's not very clean (we only stayed one night and for that it's fine… but if you have to stay longer…. I'd say no). We had a lot of fun anyway remembering the trip we took with the school. In the evening we went for a walk around the festival and… beer beer beer… wusterl and sauerkraut to our heart's content.
Munich
Day 420 Jul 2008
Last day... phew
July 20
Last day, wake-up always at nine and off we go to discover the city of Munich. Walking tour recommended by the legendary Lonely Planet. We saw Marienplatz where the town hall is and luckily it was 11:00 so we enjoyed the carillon in action. The tour lasts 2 hours and touches the most important monuments of the city. Unfortunately the moment has come to leave… at 14 we leave Munich and at 20 we arrive home.
Go to Bavaria because it's truly beautiful, there are unspoiled landscapes, green, you'll feel like you're entering a painting. Bye and see you on the next trip!!!
