The story

After so many years and just as many expectations I set foot again in Munich for half a day before Christmas. Perhaps because there was no time to visit any of the much-praised city museums, I did not like the city at all and it also lost that aura of magic that I had carried with me for all these years. The historic centre is really very small, with few characteristic views and Christmas markets full of cheap trinkets. Lots of shops identical to any European city, many people around and a white sky. Even lunch, in one of the oldest and most famous beer halls in the centre, was a bit disappointing, both for quality and for price.
