A very brief stop in Nimes during a transfer to the Iberian Peninsula for a tour. We had entered France from the Ventimiglia border. Tired from the long journey and wanting to stop to stretch our legs, we decided to do so in Nimes. I was with a friend in my Fiat Tipo. In Nimes we stayed just long enough to take a look at the historic centre, but we didn't even go to see the great Roman arena. Our goal was in fact to see the Maison Carrée, one of the best-preserved Roman temples. After visiting this monument we took the road again towards the Iberian Peninsula, entering Spain through a Pyrenean pass. After the Tour of the Iberian Peninsula (see the relevant itineraries) we came back into France. We stopped to sleep in a "Formula1" in Aix Provence, and from there the next day we returned to Italy.
