The story

It is my first trip to France and one of my first tours abroad, since previously I had only been to San Marino and the Vatican. I was with my mother and a friend and we travelled in the latter's car, an Opel Kadett. We always stayed overnight in Italy, in a hotel in Ventimiglia, where we returned every evening after crossing the border. During this holiday we also visited the Principality of Monaco twice, for which I refer you to the relevant itineraries. In France we visited the village of Èze, perched on a hill overlooking the French Riviera. The village consists of old stone houses crossed by narrow alleys. Èze is very pretty both for its Provençal architecture and for the view you enjoy there, but the real jewel is the Botanical Garden, rich in exotic plants. We also reached Nice, passing through the centre without stopping there, however.

Honestly, of this city I remember only buying an excellent baguette; I think it was the first of my life. In France the first contact with a cuisine different from the Italian one was also very interesting; in particular, in the trattorias where we stopped during our transfers, the delicate potato croquettes and some strange kind of sauce amazed me. We also went to Antibes, where the driver had a friend who worked on a yacht moored in the little harbour.
